At My Healthy Bliss, one of life's great mysteries is how all of the dumped and abandoned dogs anywhere near where we are, seem to find us. We used to joke that there must be a sign in our front yard that only dogs could read advertising 'Loving Home Right Here', in dog language, of course.
We aren't complaining and we aren't sorry. Matter of fact, we have a new little canine resident at our house. Rusty is a little 15 pound rat terrier mix that showed up in a friends driveway (after a car dumped him out and drove off fast) and was rescued by our youngest daughter. 'What's one more dog?', daughter asked. 'It won't be any harder to travel with 5 dogs than it was with 4.', she said. 'Sigh', we said.
Another mystery of life that we cannot and never will be able to explain is how someone can drive out to the country and dump a dog. The sad truth is that it happens all the time. We know this, because a whole bunch of those little (and big) dump-ees came to live with us. They have radar, I guess, and over the years many of them found us and stayed here where they were loved until they lived out their lives.
Rusty has only been with us for a little over a month now but he has decided that he is my best friend and sole protector. He has also decided that cats are evil and should be stalked and dispatched...much to the annoyance of our old cat. It's all good. These things will sort themselves out (with a little help from us if need be), but one thing that may not take care of itself is that Rusty has skin issues.
We have found, over the years, that all of the dog foods we tried were either packed with fillers we couldn't identify or had way too many carbohydrates that dogs just don't need. Dogs are carnivores. They need meat, and lots of it. Grains, corn, soy and meal just aren't at the top of your dogs favorite foods list. Too many carbs and lots of grains can cause skin sensitivities in some dogs leading to itching, biting, chewing and foot licking, among other lovely symptoms.
Our solution to these kinds of doggie problems at My Healthy Bliss is to feed our dogs quality foods that have real meat as their main ingredient. And we have found what we believe to be the best of the best for you to choose from. Freeze dried or canned, made with turkey, lamb, beef, rabbit and more meats that your dog will love...we have waded through all of the choices and found the best.
We also discovered that the treats we fed our little friends could also wreak havoc on their systems if they contained yucky, junky, unhealthy ingredients. And our little friends do love their treats. Every morning we find ourselves being followed by a tiny dog pack, waiting for their goodies. Thank goodness for pure, nourishing, mostly meat treats from My Healthy Bliss. Our little guys love the beef treats, but there are other yummy choices including chicken and even peanut butter.
