There is good news. Finding that scarf you lost last month is what we would consider good news. Then there is GOOD news. Learning that you are getting a 25% raise and an extra weeks vacation time would fall into the GOOD news category. And then...there is REALLY GOOD NEWS. My Healthy Bliss is happy to report that we have some REALLY GOOD NEWS for you today: contrary to long held belief, chocolate is actualy GOOD for you!! Isn't that just one of the best things you've ever heard?
Now, we have to elaborate a little...we are not talking about the sugar laden milk chocolate that's in a Snickers bar. Dark chocolate is the one that is our friend. The darker, the better. 85% cocoa is best, but you may find that to be a bit too bitter for you. Just choose the dark chocolate with the highest percentage of cocoa that still seems like a treat to you, and enjoy (in moderation, of course)! You just took the first step to your personalized stress relief program!
Dark chocolate, with all of it's flavanoids and flavanols may actually help lower cholesterol levels, prevent cognitive decline and reduce the risk of cardiovascular problems. Not even to mention that chocolate affects your brain by causing the release of the 'happiness neurotransmitters' - seratonin, dopamine and endorphins. That's the science behind my two year old grandaughter's favorite saying: 'Chocolate makes me happy'!
We could go on. We could tell you about the Harvard Medical School study that suggests that 2 cups of hot chocolate a day may help keep the brain healthy and prevent memory decline. We could tell you that the fiber in chocolate helps you feel full so you eat less. And we could even tell you that since chocolate may modulate healthy blood flow, it is actually good for your skin. Yes, we could go on, but we will suffice to say that dark chocolate has enough going for it that we make sure to include a little in our diet every day.
And, thanks to My Healthy Bliss, it's easy to add the right kind of chocolate to your diet. We have dark, rich Belgian chocolate bars that mere words cannot begin to describe the deliciousness of. You will want to keep some delectable vegan chocolate bars that are 55%, 65% and 71% cocoa in your desk drawer at work. Of course, you will want to make some healthy treats with chocolate chunks and chips.
Making those two cups of hot cocoa every day is easy with organic cocoa powder. Just whisk about a tablespoon into a cup of milk (or unsweetened almond or coconut milk) and lightly sweeten with Stevita Spoonable. Heat through. Ahhhh. Instant bliss.
The best news ever is that finally there is something that tastes good that's actually good for us. Isn't it great to know that you can always find some good news at My Healthy Bliss?!
